If you own a business, it is important for you to make sure it is run in a way that keeps all its systems running smoothly. This includes making sure the septic system doesn't fill up faster than expected or suffer other damages that can spell out big trouble. Here are some of the tips for keeping your septic system running smoothly:

Make sure there are sanitary napkin waste baskets in all the stalls

It's very important for you to make sure nothing gets flushed down the toilet that shouldn't be. In order to do this, you have to make sure each stall has a sanitary napkin waste basket or a small waste basket in the men's room so your employees and patrons can easily dispose of anything they need to without feeling as if they have to flush it or carry it out to the common area of the restroom.

Make sure you know what cleaners are being put in the system

If you and your employees are the ones that keep the premises clean, you will be in charge of purchasing the cleaning supplies. You want to purchase cleaning chemicals that are septic friendly. Otherwise, harsh chemicals can mess up the chemical balance in the septic system. If you have a cleaning crew that comes to your business to clean it, you want to discuss with them what chemicals they use. It may be possible for you to buy the chemicals for them to use yourself and they can use those specific products when they are cleaning your property.

Make sure you post rules regarding where to drive and park

You want to make sure you make it clear to everyone who comes to your business that they are not allowed to drive and/or park in certain places. That prevents them from moving their vehicles over the area where your septic system is. Along with posting easy-to-see signs, you may also want to put a small fence or posts around the area so you know for a fact that you don't have to worry about damage caused by vehicles.

Educate your staff on septic safety

Hand out information upon hiring and send out reminder memos that educate all of your employees on septic safety so they know what can and what cannot be put into your septic system so you won't have to worry about them treating it wrong.
